A standard nozzle picks a part by vacuum through a round tip, which is fine for a chip and no use at all for a shield, a connector body or a part whose top face is not flat. That is the gap this range fills: the tip is shaped for the component instead of the component being chosen to suit the tip.

There are tapered tips and MELF tips at several sizes, large LL and LLL tips, and a gripper type with a reflector for parts that have to be held rather than drawn up.
